Eickhoff modular principle of design
With
our modular system based on a wide range of products, Eickhoff
customers have flexibility of choice to receive almost tailor-made
machine-solutions best suited for their job.
Eickhoff’s modular system is founded on components specially
designed to avoid the problems of handling and transport
and installation in severe environment – a decisive factor
in tunnelling and mining operation.
- A Solid Basis: The Crawler-Type Undercarriage
The undercarriage is built to international standards.
Due to its high tractive power, it can achieve full penetrating
in initial cuts, at gradients of up to 18°. When it comes
to using maximum cutting force even a soft floor remains
almost unaffected.
Another reason for the stable performance of the machine
is the carefully balanced ratio between the cutting power
(kW) and the weight (t).
The
Right Cutting System for Each Application
Cutting conditions vary from roadway to roadway. This
calls for different type of cutter booms and cutter heads.
Our in-line and transverse cutter heads and the telescopic
booms can be adapted to meet various requirements:
advanced crown headings, deep undercuts, round cross-sections,
improved profiling, sumping-in without crawler action,
cutting behind arches.
Our roadheading machines can operate effectively in medium
hard rock or minerals of well over 100 MPa compressive
strength. Even at 120 MPa the results obtained with Eickhoff
Roadheaders are impressive both economically and technically.
They can cut cross sections from 7 up to 63 m? from the
stationary position. Tunnels of any shape and size – up
to roadway width of 9.80 m and a height of 7.00 m - can
be driven with this type of machine.
Dust and Sparks are Hazards of the Past
We have developed a pick track spraying system to cool
the cutting tools and dramatically reduce sparking and
dust generation. This system is based on water jets inside
the cutter head where pressure can be adjusted.
Dust collection is effected by integrated suction ducts
built into the machine and with this design the operator’s
view of the tunnel face is completely unimpeded.
- Which Loading System for Which Type of Rock?
A single loading system is inadequate when related to
the different types of rock and the varying degrees of
such factors as fragmentation, composition, uniformity
and water content. With Eickhoff you have two interchangeable
types of loading systems – the loading discs and the gathering
arms.
- The Conveyor can be Adapted to Meet all Requirements
Design efficiency has meant that a conveyor with an unusually
large throat has been incorporated into the chassis of
Eickhoff roadheaders while achieving relatively low over-all
height for all standard machines.
Hydraulically slewable and height-adjustable belt conveyors
provide optimum operations in relation to the final mucking-out
system behind the machine.
- A Working Platform Extends the Possibilities
The platform on the top of the machine is a design feature
for all Eickhoff boom-type Roadheaders. It can act as
a mounting for optional equipment such as booms for bolting
and face drilling and can also be used as a stand for
various types of work at roof level.
- Special Versions for Special Applications
Standard components from the ET range can be used in combination
with excavators as carriers or as secondary cutting units
for dressing and alignment of walls, crowns, and floors
in order to obtain a significant improvement for the true
profile.
ET booms mounted on TBM frames allows the cutting of floor
ledges to convert TBM round cross-sections into a D-shape,
simultaneously with the advance of the main heading system;
they can be mounted into shields and find applications
as telescopic booms for advanced crown headings.
