Eickhoff 3D-Lifting ring - Notes regarding the assembly
Attachment points must be arranged so that
they are easily accessible and do not hamper
the fitting or removal of the attachment device.
- Lifting Rings must not interfere or touch other
structural components. They must move freely
in all directions.
- Lifting Rings must be fitted in manner that
avoids any potentially dangerous situation to
an operator such as squeezing, shearing, catching
or impact points. Lifting Rings must not
impede transportation by protruding beyond
the side of the object to be transported.
The attachment location must be chosen, so that
the basic material withstands at least 2.5 times
the carrying capacity of the Lifting Ring without
permanent deformation and 4 times the carrying
capacity until breakage. The minimum material
thickness is fully dependent on the material
physical characteristics.
- The number and arrangement of attachment
points must ensure that the load does not
change its position during transportation.
- The attachment contact face shall be clean, level and
with a diameter larger than dimension F. The screw shall
be tightened to the contact face with the torque specified
on the data sheet.
When it is intended for the Lifting Ring to be
permanently attached to a structure, it has
to be secured with a suitable thread-locking
compound e.g. Loctite 243.
- Through hole attachment requires the use of
nuts complying with DIN ISO 4032. After the
nut is fitted, the minimum protruding lenght of
the thread is 2 times the pitch.
- The thread depth for blind bores shall be at least (
see data sheet):
| Material |
Thread depth |
steel |
1.00 x Y |
cast iron |
1.25 x Y |
aluminium |
2.00 x Y |
aluminium-magnesium alloys |
2.50 x Y |
- A competent person at least once per year should
check Lifting Rings, which are regularly used as
load suspension means.
- Every Lifting Ring must be inspected before
use. The condition of the threads, any evidence
of corrosion, incipient cracks, deformation and
free movability should determine the usability
of the Lifting Ring.
- When multi-strand lifting equipment is used, the
tractive force is increased per attachment post
(see also DIN 5688, Part 3 - Carrying Capacity).
- Attachment point bores in dirty areas or in
situations when the Lifting Rings are removed,
should be protected by the use of closing screws.
These attachment points should be color marked
so that they are easily located and identifiable.
